PSA Proudly Hosts Multiple Events Each Year

Our events are focused on spreading awareness about the pervasive rape culture and sexual assault issues in College Park, particularly on the campus of the University of Maryland.

Red Zone Rally
At the beginning of each school year, we have our iconic event: the Red Zone Rally. This event is aimed to help survivors feel seen, educate the student body on the Red Zone, and illustrate to the administration at UMD that we are paying close attention. Our goal with this walk is to foster community and increase awareness about sexual assault on our campus.

Occupy Mckeldin
Our spring semester event is Occupy Mckeldin, where students gather at Mckeldin mall and listen to a plethora of knowledgeable speakers. These survivors and advocates educate us on a variety of issues and experiences surrounding rape culture. The 2019 Occupy McKeldin had over 1,000 attendees and participants were able to craft care kits for human trafficking survivors.

Real Talk
RealTalk is a community-style open forum that we set in a bar every year in order to combat the notion that because alcohol is involved, sexual assault is okay. We want this event to show that this conversation is not taboo and can be normal. RealTalk is meant to be a safe place for members of the UMD community to discuss issues around sexual assault and how we can work to fix this issue on our campus.
